Ubasa Wrestling Academy is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization teaching advanced wrestling training and techniques in Iowa. Wrestling serves as a vehicle to instill discipline, foster personal growth, and empower our students physically and mentally to achieve their aspirations. We strive to shape young individuals into respectful, contributing community members while equipping them with skills for life's challenges. Our programs provide children and teens with exceptional wrestling coaches and mentors, including our lead instructor, Coach Ubasa.

Pablo was a 1987 Graduate from Hilo, Hawaii, where he was a multiple-sport athlete, excelling in football, tennis, and wrestling. He was second team All-Conference in football as a safety at 5’6, 120 lbs! He was described as a BIIF Standout and at the very least, was a state qualifier in 1987 at 100 lbs!

Pablo went on to compete collegiately for The University of Iowa, coached by Dan Gable. However, Hawkeye phenoms such as Chad Zaputil, Tom and Terry Brands occupied his weight class when he was there, but he still had some great wins at tournaments and meets. He was a US Open All-American in his time there!

Pablo Ubasa is one of the most consistently successful club coaches with multiple locations in Iowa. He has trained 5 Iowa HS State Wrestling 4x State Champions and over 96 High School State Champions, 313 High School Place Winners, 5 NCAA Champs, 17 Fargo National and Champions and 95 Fargo All-Americans! And he is beloved by so many of these wrestlers who were trained by him.

Pablo Ubasa… a game-changer in the Iowa wrestling community. You will often see him refereeing in Greco and Freestyle wrestling tournaments. Be sure to say HI!
